IQ Foundation Training Program

This Dashboard for your training can be accessed by clicking the ‘Clients’ button in the IQMindware.com website menu.

  1. Software Setup: Ensure the  i3 Mindware app is installed and working. This has all the training games needed for the program.
    You should be able to download Adobe AIR to run the desktops here. If you are using a Macbook Pro with the M1 chip you will need to “open with Roseta.” If there is a problem with your download or OS compatibility, please e-mail admin@iqmindware.com
  2. Semantic and Visual Streaming: The instructions for this (optional) component of your training is found below.
  3. Neural Entrainment Audio Files: Ensure that the 3 binaural beat audio files are downloaded and working and you have headphones to play them in stereo.
  4. Coaching Option: If you booked the coaching program, e-mail Dr Mark Ashton Smith at mark@iqmindware.com to schedule a meeting.
  5. Discord Channel: You can share your experiences using this plan at this IQ Mindware Discord channel with others.
  6. Program Overview: Ensure you are familiar with the following:
  • TRAIN Far Transfer Brain Training: Read over the science behind the Trident method here explaining why this training works, and the conditions in which you will benefit most from your brain training. Being subscribed to an IQMindware.com mailing list is recommended for additional guidance on this brain training method.
  • Outcomes:  Ensure you understand the training outcomes as measured by the IQ Self Report Test. The training is designed to result in long-term neuroplasticity changes resulting in improvements intelligence and IQ.
  • Scheduling Commitments: This program involves a 4 week commitment, with 20-30 minutes training per day, 5 days a week – or 20 continuous days.
  1. Data: App data is maintained on a secure internal database and is anonymised, only accessible to you on your desktop app.

1: Performance Mindset

Having a performance mindset can increase IQ by 5-10 points. Review the evidence here. For this you need a) a clear goal to increase your IQ, b) confidence that this training method will increase your IQ, and c) belief you have the ability to complete the 20 day program.

2 & 3: BioQ

Physical fitness and high HRV support overall brain health and resilience, while deep slow-wave sleep consolidates skills and strategies learned during the day, integrating them for IQ gains. Use the HRV4Training app for tracking your HRV each day.

4: Open Monitoring Mindfulness

Open Monitoring (OM) Mindfulness heightens brain criticality (see below). OM helps the brain reconfigure dynamically, supporting both automated skills and higher-level strategic thinking, essential for far transfer and IQ improvement. Learn mindfulness meditation here. You can alternatively take the Brain State Test (portal below) to assess how close you are to criticality & use binaural beats for neural entrainment to help you reach ‘in the zone’ brain criticality.

5: Brain Critical State (Φ)

A brain in a critical state oscillates between automation (sub-critical) and creativity (super-critical), dynamically adapting to cognitive demands. Achieving this state allows the brain to integrate complex information, enabling the transfer of automated skills into new and abstract contexts, which is essential for real-world IQ gains.

6a & 6b: TRAIN Skills-Mindware Brain Training

The 20-day training integrates Skills Training with Mindware (strategy) Training. Alternates each day between Executive Mode (e.g. classic DNB) and Creative Mode (e.g. non-categorical DNB or image streaming) training.

  • 6a (Executive Mode): Skills Training: Classic Dual N-Back (i3 app) or a custom i3 DNB game such as 1G, followed by mindware exercises accessible here.
  • 6b (Creative Mode): Visual or semantic streaming (below) or non-categorical DNB using the i3Mindware app.

7 & 8: Real World IQ & Multipliers

After each training session practice using the mindware you have trained with for real decisions and problems. Over time you should find your cognitive capacity to apply mindware flexibly for cognitive challenges becomes easier, and this can be accelerated if you commit to courses, new job roles or major projects (multipliers).
